Compare Reencle and Lomi by routine
Reencle and Lomi prescribe different ownership routines. Reencle asks the owner to establish and preserve a starter bed inside the appliance. Lomi heats and grinds a chosen bucket load, and the bucket may return to empty after processing. Compare those routines before comparing isolated specifications.
Household Routine
Reencle is designed for daily feeding into a retained bed. Its current guidance recommends up to 700 g per day for Prime and 1 kg per day for Gravity and Gravity Pro. Those are recommended inputs, not the larger maximum inputs listed on the same page. When the chamber reaches MAX, the owner scoops down only to MIN, sieves the removed material, and returns undecomposed pieces. The retained bed remains in the machine.

Lomi 3 uses a 3 L removable bucket and named batch cycles. The owner may empty after a cycle. Lomi's manual also permits processing up to three cycles before emptying, subject to the fill line, and instructs owners to empty after the third cycle to avoid grinder strain. That temporary retention does not create a Reencle-style bed: Lomi does not require a standing inventory to remain after the owner finishes a load.

What Can Go In Each Machine?
Both brands publish model-specific input rules. Reencle describes most ordinary human-edible food as acceptable, but bed condition and daily limits still control. Small cooked bones are allowed only when soft enough to break by hand. Hard bones, shells, hard pits, poured oil, and liquid grease are excluded. High-moisture or oily foods depend on the condition of the retained bed.
Lomi asks for a varied batch. Its current guidance lets fruits and vegetables make up the larger share, while meat, seafood, dairy, baked goods, rice, grains, and similar items should be the smaller share. Liquids, cooking oil, hard bones, fruit pits, and hard nut shells are excluded. Optional LomiPods are used in the maker's Grow routine; they do not establish a retained bed that must remain between loads.

Energy Numbers Need a Common Denominator
Lomi publishes energy per named cycle: approximately 1 kWh for Express, 1.1 kWh for Grow, and 0.2 kWh for Cleaning. Reencle publishes daily averages: 1.25 kWh per day for Prime and 1.13 kWh per day for Gravity and Gravity Pro.
Those figures do not support a direct winner. A fair test would hold constant the food mass, starting water content, observation period, material left inside, final material condition, and wall-plug measurement method. A Lomi cycle and a Reencle day are different denominators.

Maintenance and Output Destination
Reencle maintenance centers on preserving the bed. The owner checks decomposition and moisture before feeding. Reencle describes a supplementary Dry mode and a multi-day recovery process for wet or clumped material; it says replacement is generally reserved for a fully liquefied bed. Ordinary wetness should not automatically be described as permanent damage.
At harvest, the owner keeps the level at MIN or above and returns undecomposed pieces. For direct root or seed contact, Reencle tells owners to mix four parts soil with one part removed material, cure it in a breathable container for 3–4 weeks, and mix at least every three days. The maker separately permits immediate surface mulching; that is a different destination from planting.

Lomi maintenance is a different task list, not automatically a simpler one. Its manual calls for bucket cleaning, exterior cleaning, vent-cover and filter-cartridge care, ventilation clearance, and carbon replacement based on the indicator or odor. Reencle recommends carbon replacement every 9–12 months but says actual life depends on bed moisture and cleanliness; Lomi's 45-cycle reminder also may come before or after actual replacement need. Neither interval is a same-basis carbon-capacity test.
Lomi's user guide calls its output “Lomi Earth” and provides a 1:10 output-to-soil mixing ratio, composting, organics, or disposal routes. EPA says residential grinder/dehydrator output is not biologically stable compost and needs further treatment before use. That category-level EPA boundary is more conservative than adopting garden-ready marketing at face value.

FAQ
How often do I harvest from Reencle? Harvest when the chamber reaches the MAX line. You remove material down to the MIN line, leaving the active bed intact. The frequency depends on how much you feed. Reencle's instructions do not specify a fixed interval; they focus on the fill level (Reencle MAX-line harvest guidance).
Can I put cooked food in Lomi? Yes. Lomi 3 accepts takeout leftovers in smaller amounts within a varied food-scrap load (Lomi 3 input guidance). Check the Lomi 3 user guide for specifics.
Does Reencle need a special starter? Yes. Prime uses Compost Starter 1.0, included in the box. Gravity and Gravity Pro include Compost Starter 2.0, comprising a microbes pack and a booster pack, in the accessories box (Reencle Gravity setup). You must follow the model-specific setup instructions, including the water amount and wait time before first feeding (Reencle Prime initial setup).
Is Lomi's output ready for plants immediately? Do not treat the dry ground output as stable compost. Lomi's manual specifies one part output to ten parts soil, adding it to compost, using an accepted organics route, or discarding it. EPA says grinder/dehydrator output requires further treatment before use. Reencle's separate curing instructions do not apply to Lomi.
